Easy check-in at the airport. Delay...no airplane. 25 minute flight sitting next to a non-talker ++++ Arrival at Reagan International...luggage ready when I arrived at baggage claim. Cynthia from Kentucky arrived at 8:30. We hop on the Metro to Chinatown. Easy walk with luggage in tow to the Henley Park Hotel.
It is old and classy...however, it is right down town and next to a construction sight...on the luxurious pillows is a little mesh bag with earplugs in it. They let us check in at 9 am...and upgraded us to suites. SWEET! The suite is lovely. The mini-bar is well-stocked. A Snickers bar is only $4!We set out for lunch...a panini. Very good. The next stop is the Newseum. Excellent museum. A MUST see in DC. Interestingly enough, they were having an exhibit about the Berlin Wall.
From there, we head to the American History Museum. Cynthia has never been there before. We split up and met again about 3 and headed for the Goethe Institute.
Cynthia needed an ice tea...me too. We arrived at the Institute early, but several others were already there. We found out that there are two groups going at the same time. My group is doing the northern route and they are taking the southern route. They were very jealous that we are going to attend the FIFA Women's Soccer Opening Match in Berlin on Sunday. We had an introduction session, a breakfast $10 cash handout, plane ticket distribution, language lesson and dinner. Tomorrow we have more info sharing before we are off to the airport. I'm back in the Sweet Suite.
